Statement Supporting AG Scott Pruitt As EPA Administrator
By Energy & Environment Action Team President Craig Richardson

Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt is a great choice to be the next EPA administrator. He has an excellent reputation as an administrator and will bring balance back to an agency that has gotten far afield from its core mission of ensuring our nation has clean air and clean water. Over the past 8 years, the EPA has issued over 4,000 new regulations that have cost billions of dollars and thousands of jobs. When rules like the Waters of the US Rule allows the EPA to regulate nearly 100 of the land in states like Montana and Missouri, it's gone too far. These regulations have been a tremendous burden on American farmers, ranchers, small business owners, and communities. We need a new direction, one that protects the environment without hurting American jobs and the economy.

Scott Pruitt's record speaks to this kind of reasoned approach to environmental issues. He has shown a willingness to work across the aisle to develop solutions that protect the environment while not hurting jobs and the economy in Oklahoma or surrounding states. And, he has demonstrated that he will to go after corporations when they cross the line. Members of both parties have applauded his handling of environmental issues in Oklahoma, and he will bring that same, reasoned and balanced approach to the EPA.
